The words are flowing
I mean in all honesty, the ideas are oozing out of me, so much so that I am having to calm the nerves and restrict what ideas I may have. But, as a creative person in general it’s so difficult to restrain myself. Having published my first poetry book which is now on sale around the world, I have now moved on to my Fantasy novel, Helgorith but then a few weeks ago I started writing my Science Fiction series, it just doesn’t end does it? Surely I can’t be the only writer to have multiple stories on the go at once but it helps the imagination, when one tale dries up I jump straight into the other then when that becomes a struggle, I flit back into the fantasy. When all run dry, I reach for my camera and head for the great outdoors, it’s just how my mind works.
Now, don’t get me wrong.. I love what I do, simple. I love the people I talk with across my Social Media who I otherwise would never of even got the chance to hear about their incredible stories. As writers we are often alone with our ideas, when we write we have only the characters that we create within our heads, once down on paper we can see them come alive. When I write I don’t plan the story, more times than not I don’t know what the story is let alone what is gonna happen in it. This works well for me, as the story evolves I do then start to create back stories, scenes, character development and more to help me when I get more into the tale.
My apologies for the lack of entries in my Journal, life has a habit of getting in the way doesn’t it? Helgorith - The Battle for Helgor is coming along nicely, not as nice as I hoped it would by this point in the year but still, I am far ahead with the story now than I was four weeks ago. Another six or so more characters introduced into the story and the evilness has now spread across Helgorith. It is fantastic how the story has grown from when I first had the idea and yes it all started with one character, Avaleen the female wizard. Creating a new world filled with amazing characters and places has been a challenge, when writing a scene then starting a new chapter I have to remember where my characters are up to, what they said, the things they have done and also the plot of the story. This is difficult, we are not talking about a simple blog here, we are talking of a novel with around 45,000 words so far and not to mention fourteen chapters into the story. This is when I do start planning, with notepads, drawing paper for character creation and then Scrivener, where would I be without Scrivener, it is a huge added bonus to my tool bag.
Then we have Rheas Voyage, the Science Fiction short story series. I had no idea how many words to put into each book but I have now decided on 10,000 words. It is an even number and a good length for a short story. I want each book to tell a story, an adventure that Colt Ryder and his companion Libby to undertake, each book will be set in the same location, space! The end.. All joking aside, this itself is no easy task. Again, I don’t write a story board, I don’t plan a story, I had an idea from a video game I used to play many years ago, created a character who would be my main and then using the backdrop of the game for the scenes. Simple, right? The first book of the series will be out soon, I am hoping before Christmas this year, 2024 and as it goes, I am on schedule, it is Helgorith that is given me an headache but because the story has expanded exceptionally, it is more and more difficult to just simply write.. the story needs to flow, have a purpose to every chapter, every scene plays a part. If I don’t enjoy it then chances are the reader won’t experience the journey as I plan for it to be, truth. A writer is his/her own sceptic and we need to be viscous when reading it over, we are the last line of defence before it goes out into the world. Photography is very much like that, when I create an image which goes far beyond clicking a shutter button, I have to edit the image, adjust the light, composure etc before I send it out into the public domain. So be crucial and viscous when looking over your work.
My passion for photography has always helped me with my Mental Health, being a military veteran and diagnosed with post Traumatic Stress Disorder it would be a crime for me not to include my works into my website. As you have already probably noticed, my photographs can now be purchased from my store. Like I said, I am a creative person, it is how I manage the demons, especially when they want to come out and play.. Always a bad sign!
Thank you for stopping by and I promise not to leave it so long next time before I post to my journal, your support is welcomed and I thank you all for being here with me on this incredible journey.
